Résumé:

This paper analyzes the subset of CrunchBase (a live dataset with various information about businesses, including investments) concerning automotive manufacturers to glean prevalent global investing trends of the automotive industry, using acquisitions as a proxy. We discuss that companies working on emerging technologies creating a ‘buzz’ may not be the companies that large automobile companies have acquired. This is an exploratory study to describe the use of such databases and data analyses in providing information about the degree of confidence of an industry in certain emerging technologies.
